Bachelor
of Health Sciences (Public Health)
2 Year Option
Two-year program for graduates with a relevant Bachelor's Degree
or Technology Program.
This option
cannot be completed by distance education.
Upon completion of the program, students are academically eligible
to apply to take the national certification exam of the Canadian
Institute of Public Health Inspectors. An appropriate twelve-week
practicum is also a requirement for certification.
Compliance with Canadian Institute of Public
Health Inspectors practicum criteria is a student responsibility
and does not lie with Cape Breton University.
A relevant Bachelor's degree or Technology Program includes the
following courses (or their equivalents):
The academic requirements for completion of the 4 and 2 year options of the Public Health degree are identical. The units listed below generally will be taken at other academic institutions, but deficiencies may be picked up at CBU before enrolling in a course for which they are prerequisite, or before graduation. All units, or their equivalents, must be completed to qualify for the
Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) degree.

Graduates eligible to receive Bachelor of
Health Sciences (Public
Health)
You may apply for transfer credit or credit for prior learning for
courses offered in the two year program. An application fee of $50
is required. Materials may have to be provided to facilitate judgment
of equivalency. A fee of 50% of the tuition of the course is required
for each prior learning credit awarded.
