Welcome to the Music Motivation Survey.  This is a research project conducted by researchers in the Department of Psychology at Cape Breton University. The research is supervised by Professor Peter MacIntyre.

The purpose of this study is to investigate various aspects of musical motivation for playing piano.  We are studying how these motivations are related to each other, as well as how they vary from individual to individual. It takes about 15 minutes to complete the survey.  There are questions about the types of music you play, your reasons for playing and practicing piano, how you see yourself as a musician, and so on.  We welcome all participants, from beginners to experts, including people who have not played in a while.

In order to participate in this research study, it is necessary that you give your informed consent.
