Chem 2201 Lab

Introduction to Chemical Thermodynamics

This lab focuses on the determination of some fundamental thermodynamic topics such as the heat capacity of gases, change in entropy, change in enthalpy, phase diagram determination for liquid-liquid or solid-liquid binary system, and molar mass of an unknown compound. Students will be introduced to such techniques as solution calorimetry, bomb calorimetry, conductivity, and freezing-point determination, and dilute solution viscosity.

Other topics covered include a review of how to write an experimental lab report and basic computer and spreadsheet operation using assigned problems.
